"BRATS" are not just military - and they're not just American. Although the documentary features former U.S. DoD dependents, what they say and feel applies to all BRATS - international military brats and other "third culture kids" (foreign service, corporate, government, missionary, NGO, oil, etc.). Our similarities far outweigh our differences - and that's the beauty of it!

Vietnam-Iraq/Afghanistan BRATS Mentor Program
Questions and advice on coping with a parent at war - before they leave, while they're away, and after they return home.
Sad... confused... angry that your mom or dad (or both) are deployed? You're not alone. A lot of us have walked in your shoes. If you have a question, let us know. But remember, if you're under 18, PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, OR CONTACT INFORMATION. This is for your own protection. Be careful!

Learn something that helped you cope as a BRAT during the Vietnam War? Pass it on to the Iraq-era BRATS, particularly the National Guard BRATS, who aren't used to the BRAT lifestyle. We're here to help each other. Please keep it constructive.

Is there something you wish your parents, teachers, counselors, coaches, or the institution they work for knew about you? What would you like to see more of? Less of? What do you need that you're not getting? Don't be funny, folks. We're trying to be constructive.

It's hard out there being a writer, artist, or musician. It's doubly hard when you have no "hometown network" to help you. This is our "hometown network." If you're a BRAT writer, artist, or musician (or know of someone who is) struggling to get your work out, let us know!

How "Growing Up BRAT" Has Affected Your Adult Life
So we all know we're not alone.
How did you feel when they took your ID card away? When you returned "home" after living overseas? When you had to go to your first civilian school or college?
